Mornings

The first thing that i did this morning was swap the seats of my bikes. After a painful ride last night, I knew that I needed to change the seat on my new ride. This morning, I woke up at 6:20 and put on last night's clothes.

The coffee pot sat cold and unattended while I took out a 6mm allen and a 14 wrench. The cats antagonized me while I took the more padded seat off of the aggressive city bike and replaced it with the harder seat that was on my new trekking/grocery-fetching bike.

It occurred to me that it was a little odd. I am not one for routine, but why would this be the very first thing I put my hands on?

Last weekend I came to with my hands pruning the lovely but pernicious butterfly bush out back. I think that I actually did brew the coffee first that morning.

A few months ago I was writing everymorning, either an answerphone post, a pro-dev post, or some free writing. Now I seem to want to do something manual.

I like to consider what the mind is doing at the first moments of consciousness. Perhaps I think of it as a tabula rasa moment. I doubt that it would be a supportable belief, but nonetheless I behave as if there is a purity of thought that should drive the day.

Sometimes, when I am particularly stressed and anxious, I would not allow myself to get out of bed until I could think of a calm, considered reason to wake. I wait for a hot bath or a nice breakfast to replace fear of the checkbook or some supposed recrimination.

Personally, I

Personally, I like to start most statements by averring expertise.

In my experience,
As I have seen it,
I believe that,

So, In this blog I will say what I have seen and what I thought about it. It will be more personal than my silly persona in The Answer Phone or my pro dev blog.

Everyone needs three blogs, minimum.
